King C. Gillette’s Vision and the Birth of a Legend

Every morning when we stand in front of the mirror and slide steel across our faces, we are actually becoming part of a massive vision established at the beginning of the 20th century. So, how did this industry, which changed the daily routine of billions of men, come to be?
The year was 1895... King Camp Gillette was a traveling salesman working for a bottle cap company called Cork Crown Seal at the time. One morning, as he was trying to sharpen his dull straight razor as usual, that revolutionary idea came to his mind: "I should make a blade that, when it loses its sharpness, can be thrown away and replaced with a brand new, flawless piece of steel."
Metallurgical engineers of that era told him it was impossible, claiming that thin steel could not be hardened into a sharp edge. However, Gillette did not give up. He teamed up with a genius engineer named William Nickerson and set to work in 1901. In 1903, they launched the first safety razor. They only sold 51 blades in the first year. But in the second year, that number skyrocketed to 90,000. Because men had discovered comfort and safety.
Today, as NetMilli, we are inheriting this deep-rooted philosophy. We are challenging the exorbitant prices and hard-to-reach standards in the market; we bring the highest quality steel and the sharpest technology directly to your door at the right price. Because shaving is not a chore, it is the most powerful signature you leave on your day.
